Tim Reedman,  Centre for Surgical Invention & Innovation (CSii),39 Charlton Ave East, Hamilton, ON L8N 1Y3, Canada

MDA has been developing robots for unique applications for over thirty years. Our most famous robot, the Canadarm, is a Canadian technology icon and we have had a successful history working with NASA and the CSA as part of the manned space program. More recently we have been working with leading Canadian medical researchers on applications for robotics in medicine. In this talk, we will provide an overview of our activities in both areas.

Tim Reedman is the Director, Commercial Systems at MDA Space Missions. Tim is responsible for leading MDA’s commercial systems product line which includes medical robotics, nuclear robotics and automation, security systems and other new applications.

Tim has been with MDA for twenty-seven years, holding a variety of senior positions in engineering and management. He has extensive experience in both space and non-space engineering projects, and has been the technical authority on many multi-year, multi-million dollar projects ranging from elements of the International Space Station to animatronic dinosaurs for the entertainment industry. He has led the company’s R&D group and the Operations group, and recently was responsible for successfully developing and advancing the company’s medical robotics portfolio.

Tim has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Toronto.
