35e FIFA | Catégorie FIFA expérimental

Section hors compétition organisée dans le cadre du 35e Festival International du Film sur l’Art, FIFA expérimental réunit des œuvres singulières, inclassables, associées au cinéma expérimental et à l’art vidéo, privilégiant l’innovation formelle et les modes de récit ou d’associations exploratoires. Sont à l’honneur deux figures majeures de l’art vidéo au Canada, Marshalore et Andrew Paterson, puis une sélection éclectique de courts, longs métrages inédits qui secouent nos a priori face à l’identité, à la mémoire, à la création et aux processus qui l’animent.

Experimental FIFA, an out-of-competition section of the 35th International Festival of Films on Art, features a number of singular, unclassifiable works related to experimental cinema and video art. Each in their own way, they encompass formal innovations and exploratory modes of narration or association. This year’s edition spotlights two major figures in Canadian video art: marshalore and Andrew James Paterson. It also presents an eclectic mix of previously unreleased short and feature-length films that disrupt our preconceived notions about identity, memory, creation and the processes underlying it.
