Gohar Manvelyan est devenue passionnée du chant choral dès qu’elle a entendu Vigiles nocturnes de Sergei Rachmaninov à Moscou, Russie. Cette expérience, ainsi que les compositions chorales de son père, l'éminent compositeur arménien Hayk Manvelyan, l’ont encouragée à poursuivre l'art de la chorale dès l'âge de dix-huit ans. À Moscou, Gohar s’inscrit d'abord dans le Programme de direction chorale au Collège de Musique du Conservatoire d’état P. I. Tchaïkovski, où elle a obtenu son diplôme avec mention de distinction.

Depuis son arrivée à Montréal il y a plus d'une décennie, Gohar a eu plusieurs occasions de travailler avec des chœurs et chefs de chœur prééminents. Notamment, elle a collaborée comme chef-assistante de Christopher Jackson pour le Choeur de chambre de l'Université Concordia. Depuis l’obtention de sa maîtrise en direction chorale de l'Université de Sherbrooke avec Robert Ingari, Mme Manvelyan a occupée plusieurs postes en tant que chef d’choeur. Elle a travaillée comme directrice musical de la Société opératique de l’ouest de Montréal, l'assistant d'enseignement du Chœur de l'Université McGill. Elle a également dirigée les Schulich School Singers de l'Université McGill et le chorale Mashtots de la communauté arménienne. Actuellement, Mme Manvelyan est dans sa deuxième année d'études doctorales en direction chorale à l'Université McGill. Elle étudie avec le Dr. Jean-Sébastien Vallée.

Gohar Manvelyan became enamoured of choral singing when she first heard Sergei Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil in Moscow, Russia. This experience, along with the choral compositions of her father, the distinguished Armenian composer Haik Manvelyan, encouraged Gohar to pursue the art of choral conducting at the age of eighteen. While living in Moscow, Gohar first enrolled in the Choral Conducting Program at the Music College of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where she completed her degree with Honours of Distinction.

Since moving to Montreal over a decade ago, Gohar has had many opportunities to work with numerous choirs and preeminent choral conductors. Notably, she has worked as assistant conductor of Christopher Jackson with the Concordia University Chamber Choir. Since obtaining her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting with Robert Ingari from the University of Sherbrooke, Ms. Manvelyan has held several positions as a conductor. She has worked as the Music Director of the Montreal West-End Operatic Society, the Teaching Assistant of the McGill University Chorus. She also directed the Schulich School Singers of McGill University and the Armenian community choir Mashtots on many occasions. Currently, Ms. Manvelyan is in her second year of Doctoral studies in choral conducting at McGill University studying with Dr. Jean-Sébastien Vallée
